Edited by: Dian Rasd on 08/10/2010 12:43:10 Looking very good in my book!
Usability/UI: -Looks very slick, I'm a sucker for the design. Having said that, I'd like to see numbers added to the dial, for easer direct access, make them maybe slightly bigger to get room for the numbers. -Add arrows for next/last and a number field in the center of the dials. It's neat that you can control them with the mouse wheel, however my wheel seems to have slight hiccups where I move two notches at once, so a button to click for the next design makes this easier and IMHO more intuitive to use. Would be also good for usability with a laptop touch pad.
-I really do like the sculpting, the range of very different* looking characters you can create is staggering; and I have only played around with the Deteis female so far! However, there really needs to be an Undo button! IMO you get the best results if you are very subtle while sculpting the face and moving the mouse to much here and there creates very weird/ugly looking faces very quickly and is next to impossible to 'fix'. While it is good to have the option to create such characters it is very annoying to have to go back to the character selection to get a fresh start.
Edit: Another point for the sculpting, its nice and all that I can get double D's. But why, oh why can't I sculpt a really fat ass? Makes me a sad panda.
-- *Elsewhere I read people complaining that everyone will look the same. This is not the case at all, and I think people are saying that because of the limited outfit options, same hairstyle availability for all bloodlines. Do not, repeat, do not listen to them! If anything we need more options not less. Say no to specific outfits only for certain bloodlines! This is something that has always bothered me, not only in the old character creation, but in many other games as well. There is no reason that a Minmatar who is roleplaying an Ammatar loyalist to the Empire wouldn't wear Ammarish looking stuff. There is also no reason to not assume that a Caldari can't go native in the Republic or that no Ammar ever got 'corrupted' by the Gallentean Way of Life.
In RL there is nothing stopping me, a westerner, to go and buy a traditional Japanese outfit and wearing it. I might look slightly ridiculous in it but that's another matter, no?
So, no to restricted options and a big hell yeah to complete freedom of choice! That's what Eve is about, after all.
